My journey through college has not been the typical path most of my peers stuck to. Similar to the photo used for this post, I felt like my life had many red stop lights. I started out as an Education major at a public university. I enjoyed my degree choice and the classes I took but there something just didn’t feel like it was “me”. I have loved working with children (and I still work with children) but I wasn’t sure if that was what I wanted my degree to be in.
After my freshman year, I started searching for other degrees and schools. The summer through spring of my sophomore year I completed the rest of my general courses. During this time, I was looking into my passions to decide what degree I should switch to. I narrowed it down to two things I knew that I loved: traveling and photography. I have always loved to travel and I was an amateur photography, I mostly took pictures on my phone but I enjoyed it. My research brought me to the conclusion that I needed to look for a specific university that had a major involving social media. I trusted God to lead me to the best decision.
January of this year, I transferred to Liberty University online. I was drawn to Liberty because they had the specific degree I was looking for; Strategic Communication: Social Media Management. I have enjoyed my degree specific courses. The classes have stretched my knowledge and understanding.
I am excited to continue this journey to graduate and get a job in this field!
